58 Quart Portable Electric Camping Car Cooler

I ordered this refrigerator freezer cooler based on the cost per qt size, which is the best value with this model / style cooler. I received the refrigerator cooler in the mail approximately a week later. After opening the box I was immediately impressed with the quality and size of the cooler. I let the refrigerator freezer sit for a 24 hour period before usage as described in the booklet material. On Sunday Aug 16, 2000 4pm I powered on the cooler, documenting power 12volt battery usage while in operation. I started the usage test plugging the cooler into the 12v port of a Goal Zero Yeti 1000 power supply with 92 % battery life. Sun 4:00pm 92% battery - START Sun 9:02pm 83% battery Sun 11:05pm 81% battery Sun 11:50pm 80% battery Mon 5:30am 78% battery Mon 7:00am 78% battery - End 15hrs later Max watts observed was 63 watts upon initial start. This cooler is very quiet, I was impressed with the power usage considering the size of the cooler. I find the cooler to be designed very well, being able to operate the cooler from either side or just having the ability to remove the top for cooler packing or cleaning actions. I have started documenting long term cooler durability while being mobile. I really want / hope to see the cooler maintain quality over time. We estimate that we'll pay for the cooler in about a year with the money we save on buying ice. The cooler was recommended to me by a fellow-RV'er who had researched for some time and came to the conclusion that the Costway cooler was the way to go for reliability in the compressor and overall construction. We weren't disappointed in our purchase. Being able to adjust the temperature, even to a below zero setting, is fantastic. And to have a cover that opens to the front or to the back, or that you can simply lift off totally, is quite a pleasant surprise. It's a heavy cooler and it would be best to load it up AFTER carrying it to your car. Remember: it's a fridge with a compressor. It's going to be a little heavier than a simple insulated box. The power drain on my "house batteries" is negligible. I ran the cooler for 24 hours and tested the battery voltage before and after. The before voltage was 12.3 volts and the after voltage was 12.2 volts. The cooler doesn't run continuously but only when the temperature needs it. Having a readout of the temp on the outside of the cooler is a blessing.

Works as promised. Much quieter than hoped for, almost silent. Easy set up out of the box. Turned it in, set to Fahrenheit. Temp was 70 when turned on, set it to 28 degrees, took 30 to 40 minutes to achieve the 28 degrees desired. Unit looks great, open either side lid works perfectly. No complaints here yet! Sure it’s a bit pricey, but it’s a well engineered device and the 58quart unit has a spacious storage area, all I will ever need. It’s worth every penny.

So far it has worked out really good on my truck. No problems just remember to set the battery protector to lowest level.

The unit comes packed very well and the quality seems to be very good and stands up well against more expensive units. It is relatively quite during operation and went from 80 degrees in the compartment to 32 degrees in less than 10 minutes. I also like that the lid can be opened from both ends! It took some time to get through the manual which is in Chi-English. Overall, a fantastic fridge for the price
